Top presenter coming to speak to CBJ students
Sky Sports presenter David Jones is heading for CBJ next month to talk about his early brush with the dark side of journalism and subsequent rise to fame.
Once voted Company Magazine’s North East Bachelor of the Year, he cut his journalistic teeth as a junior news reporter at the Derbyshire Times in Chesterfield.
The deputy editor at the time was potty-mouthed, hard-drinking, chain-smoking Dave Welford and the news editor the wine-stained, gin-soaked lager loutette Ann Charlton.
David managed to make good his escape after two years, signing up for the launch of Sky Sports News in 1998.
He has since made his way up the ranks and is perhaps best remembered for presenting the first Sky Sports Super Sunday after the notorious sacking of Andy Gray and resignation of Richard Keys in February 2011.
Since last August he has presented Saturday Night Football with Jamie Redknapp.
He will be speaking to students on Wednesday, March 26. Tickets will be available soon from admin.
